Malwarebytes Is Not An Antivirus Solution

The idea that Malwarebytes is an alternative for an antivirus program should be discarded, as using them alone will simply expose your computer to viruses and not give you full protection. This can be confirmed in any Malwarebytes forum  or reputable computer specialist.

Malwarebytes are merely meant to support an antivirus software. Malwarebytes, MBAM, are findings uncovered by Antivirus retailers based on the shortcomings of an antivirus program. This means that information is gathered in a way that each program’s performance is well defined in order to avoid conflicting tasks.  However, MBAM will not perform  certain software repairs which is therefore where an antivirus software comes in.

MBAM simply complements the antivirus software and any suspicions of a virus present on your computer should prompt the installation of AVG, Avast or Avira which offer non paying versions of antivirus software for non commercial use.  You can do a web search through google to find these free antivirus software or visit any computer related forum for top tips and advice on which ones come highly recommended as the best performers.

In today’s world being without an antivirus software is unthinkable as your PC will be an easy target for vicious malware. You must install some form of protection if you wish to incorporate the Internet as part of your regular computer use. Without it you are guaranteed to run into to problems, some not so bad but others quite severe.

You might think that removing harmful viruses is an easy job and that all it requires is a simple installation of an anti virus or anti spyware programme. But unless you know what you are doing it can have disastrous results and actully cause more damage to your PC.

Every month almost 600 viruses and varieties of malware are discovered and buying that anti-virus software or that shareware downloaded fron the internet, may prove costly particularly if they have not been updated with the latest virus definitions and fail to detect the virus. Viruses that do not reside in the hard-drive may not be completely eliminated by antivirus software that does not scan the boot sector. In such cases the virus has the opportunity to reinfect the computer.

Antiviruses can at times give false warnings of a present virus in a particular programme thus causing you to deleting them without the real need to. As a result many  programme can function incorrectly and lead to further problems.

A computers performance can even be compromised by an anti-virus spyware that is able to log into your computers memory and stop genuine softwares from working. The truth is that virus developers are far more ahead that the rest of us when it comes to solving virus problems. It is always recommended that you seek the help and advice of a trained specialist if you are unsure or unable to perform the removal task yourself.

Criteria for selecting a Spyware Software

How can you tell the good spyware software from the bad? Even more difficulties lie in how to tell the best software when looking for value for money.Commercial spyware programs will however be more effective in removing spywares unlike the non-commercial, which at times are carriers. Tested spyware software will offer protection so long as it has regular updates.

A computer infected by a malicious spyware acts strangely with unwanted internet browser windows intermittently showing as you access the internet. The first place to find the answer is the internet in order to eliminate the spyware and get the computer behaving normally again. There is a lot of information that may assist in making  the right choice.

Good spyware is user friendly with an interface button that will perform scanning and in the event a file is infected you will be prompted to clean it. Another attribute you would want in a spyware software is one of “active protection” where scanning of newly added files is done real time and are deleted instantly in the case they are found to be harmful.

A spyware remover that runs on the operating system start-up will be a good protection as some infectious files re-engineer themselves  once deleted hence reoccurring every time the system is rebooted.

Nowadays spywares are offered as “free+Scan” but the catch is once you have scanned and spyware has been identified, removal can only happen once a license has be bought. Therefore its recommended to purchase one rather than shop around for ineffective trial versions that may end up clogging your system.

Trusting Free Antivirus Software

While it is true that free things often result in being the most expensive, the saying does not necessarily apply to free anti-virus software. You will find that most credible companies give away a modified version of their antivirus programmes, such as the home edition, for free. This does not mean that they are fake or worthless but rather that they are a mere marketing strategy to get you to buy the real thing. Many free antivirus are just as effective as the actual expensive commercial versions.

Money is undoubtedly made from selling the commercial version to those who have been convinced of buying them after trying out the free edition. The referrals or word of mouth advertisement is the most effective marketing strategy.

Automatic updates are a key feature of a good antivirus. This is because new viruses can appear literally every single day. Some may even appear disguised as genuine warnings demanding that you download their antivirus products. These are the type of spyware that you need to be on your guard against. Through automatic updates, you will protect your PC from these ever present risks to your computer. Genuine but free antivirus software will have these update options. You however need to be careful not to fall for the virus themselves.

Some of the credible anti-virus software includes AVG, Avira and Avast. These come in free home editions and pay-for commercial editions.  The free home editions are as good as the commercial editions and are equally as effective as the other big names of Norton and Mcfee.  Feel confident to use the free editions as long as you can verify the source.

Renewing Antivirus Firewall Programs

Tue, Jun 2, 2009

Not long ago, my antivirus firewall programme needed renewing in order to keep my computer protected. Being a stickler for budgets, I only paid an annual fee for the programme so here I was again in an awkward position. I am aware that most antivirus programme companies send out a reminder when renewal time is getting close but I chose to ignore it. I hate this situation because I am now forced to fork out between 40 and 80 dollars for an antivirus programme, not to mention that during this time my computer is exposed to cyber criminals when connected to the Internet.

It is only common sense that I should plan for renewal so I am not caught in this situation again.  Every year, this is a trying time for me as I am spending money on a service I do not get immediate benefit from. I get irritated simply staring at the alert sign warning me that my computer is not protected and I suddenly start to panic.

You might be wondering why I choose not to use freeware antivirus. For me, this has never worked and from experience it seems that the free ones always expose my computer to viruses that are then difficult to delete. The boot sector was cleaned and the backup copy of my computer reinstalled.  I am not saying that you should never opt for freeware antivirus but a lot of care should be taken when chosing them.

If however I find a formula for using a free antivirusm programme that prevents these awkward moments, then I will gladly subscribe.
